This is a fragrance that opens with a slap of green, a bitter basil and coriander sting cut through by lemon so sharp it borders on acidic. The aldehydes lift it into something almost barbershop fresh, but the heart reveals the real intent: a dusty, dry vetiver tangled with cinnamon and a leather note that smells less like a new jacket and more like the cracked arm of an old chair in a smoky study. It develops into a mossy, ambered base where labdanum and oakmoss ground everything in a slightly sweet, earthy warmth. The whole thing is a portrait of a man who reads the newspaper in a leather armchair wearing a tweed jacket that has never been dry cleaned, and he is fine with that.
It is decidedly synthetic in its opening, that late 80s early 90s sharpness that feels both dated and deliberate. The longevity is adequate at best, around three or four hours on skin, and sillage stays close after the first hour, so do not expect to trail a cloud. It suits someone who appreciates aromatic fougères and classic masculine structures, but skips it if you want projection or sweetness. Wear it in autumn or winter for daytime errands or a casual dinner, not a night out. The dry down is its best feature, but you have to wait for it.
