You get the full-court citrus press at first: blood orange, tangerine, and Amalfi lemon all screaming for attention, with a watery melon note that makes everything feel like a cold spritz on hot skin. But then the heart swerves, because Rodrigo Flores-Roux wasn't content with just a refreshment stand. Ginger and coriander add a spicy, almost savory flicker, while orange flower and neroli push the floral white side hard enough to make this feel like a garden party crashing a citrus grove. The drydown settles into a soft leather-and-woody base with white amber and orris, but the whole thing stays surprisingly light and airy for something called Black.
This is the fragrance equivalent of a crisp linen shirt worn to a rooftop brunch in May, sleeves rolled up, sunglasses on, iced tea sweating in your hand. It feels mostly natural up top, but the base gets a synthetic sheen from Kephalis and white musk that keeps it firmly in the designer mainstream. The problem is it barely lasts two hours before becoming a skin scent, and sillage is a polite whisper at best. If you want to be smelled, look elsewhere. But if you’re the guy who values a bright, cheerful, slightly floral citrus that works best in spring and early summer daylight, this deserves a spot. Just pack a travel atomizer. Who should skip it? Anyone expecting leather dominance or nighttime drama, because this is all sunshine and soft shoulders, and there’s nothing wrong with that.
