The Calabrian bergamot and green leaves keep things bright but not candied, and within minutes the heart turns hazy with orris and sage, a powdery, herbal shimmer that feels almost like the ghost of a barbershop. Pebbles appear in the middle notes, literal mineral matter, and that’s the whole trick here: this fragrance smells like a clean riverbed after a spring rain, smooth and gray with bits of citrus peel washed over it. The base of sandalwood, patchouli, and musk stays close to the skin, warm but never syrupy. And yes, the longevity and sillage numbers are honest disappointments: expect two to three hours before it retreats into a faint woody whisper.
