Our take

Incense & Cedrat Limited Edition opens with a sharp lemon note that cuts through the air immediately. Black pepper adds a rough, dry heat to the citrus, giving the first moments a brisk and slightly abrasive character. The lemon is not sweet or candied. It is crisp and acidic, paired with a spice that tingles rather than burns. This combination creates a clean and upright introduction that feels more architectural than playful. The brightness is real, but it carries a certain weight from the very start because the resinous elements are not far behind.

The heart shifts toward resin as elemi joins the incense. The lemon recedes but does not vanish, now sitting beneath a veil of smoke and warm sap. Incense brings a dry, slightly powdery church scent that feels solemn and contained. Elemi resin smooths the transition with a soft, greenish gum texture that bridges the citrus and the heavier base. The frankincense in the drydown deepens this mood, supported by labdanum and benzoin. These base materials create a thick, amber-like warmth that is balsamic and slightly sticky in texture, leaning fully into the oriental spicy family.

The overall blend stays true to its resinous core, but the lemon and pepper never fully integrate with the heavy base. The citrus often feels like a bright layer placed on top of the smoke rather than woven into it. This separation can make the fragrance feel like two different compositions worn at once. The pepper also becomes faint quickly, leaving the lemon to clash slightly with the dense labdanum. For a limited release, the formula plays it safe within the brand’s familiar amber framework.
