CH Privée
Fragrance notes
Character
CH Privée opens with a surprising jolt of animalic leather, not the smooth, tamed kind but something raw and almost salty, like the snap of a well-worn glove dusted with black caviar. The osmanthus adds a faint, apricot-like floral fuzz that barely softens the blow. As it settles, a dense patchouli and vanilla backbone emerges, but this is no cozy gourmand. The vanilla here feels dark, almost boozy, while the patchouli stays dry and woody. The whole thing reminds me of a vintage handbag left open on a velvet chair in a dimly lit private club, one you dare not touch without permission.
The accord is heavy, decidedly synthetic in a polished way, and leans far more toward niche audacity than mainstream ease. On the skin, it projects modestly for about three hours then hugs close for another four, which feels honest for a leather bomb. This fragrance is not for the faint of heart. It suits someone who wants to smell expensive and slightly dangerous, not approachable. Skip it if you prefer clean florals or safe sweetness. Wear it to a black tie dinner in fall or winter, when the air is cold enough to cut the richness. And if you miss the seasons it claims, know this: spring will suffocate under its weight.
