Our take

Sisley Eau de 2 opens with a bright, almost brittle snap of bergamot and basil, the cardamom adding a quietly fizzy warmth that keeps the citrus from turning sour. It feels like the first few seconds after you crack a ripe peppercorn between your fingers, green and sharp and unexpectedly tender. As it settles, the heart becomes a gauzy tangle of iris and cyclamen, with jasmine and rose slipping through like light through a muslin curtain, powdery but never cloying. The base of cedar, vetiver, patchouli, and sandalwood grounds everything in an earthy, slightly dry finish, more stem than petal.

The overall character is that of a linen shirt dried on a line strung through a herb garden, still bearing the ghost of basil and clean earth. It walks the line between natural and refined, mainstream enough to wear anywhere but niche in its quiet insistence on subtlety. The trouble is that subtlety comes at a cost: longevity barely clears three hours, and sillage hovers just above skin. You will need to reapply, especially in summer heat when it blooms best.

This is for someone who wears fragrance for themselves, not for the room. Skip it if you demand projection or a scent that lasts through dinner. Wear it on a warm weekday morning, a spring afternoon in the city, or any time you want to feel put together without announcing yourself. It is a whisper, and a lovely one.
