Our take

Pepper oil and nutmeg give Soir de Lune its bite at the start, spicier and drier than the citrus notes sitting alongside them would suggest on their own. May rose and mimosa carry the heart into something powdery and a little melancholic, with iris deepening the mood further before jasmine and peach round the edges out.

Honey and oakmoss dominate the base, joined by patchouli, musk and sandalwood in a combination that reads dense, earthy and distinctly grown-up. Coriander threads a green, slightly bitter note through the top, giving the honey a drier counterpoint so it never sits purely sweet.

This suits candlelit rooms and later hours far more naturally than a bright morning, something worn to be noticed slowly rather than announced on arrival.

It holds firm across a long stretch of wear, unhurried about fading. The trail it leaves is genuinely noticeable, arriving with you into a room, not lagging a few paces back. Fans of dense chypre florals with real weight to them will find a lot to sit with here, in a composition built to reward patience over quick first impressions.
