Our take

L’Occitane’s Notre Flore Myrte opens with a brisk snap of citrus and mandarin leaf, green and almost peppery, before the myrtle steps in. It’s not the sweet, jammy berry you might expect from the blueberry note; instead, the fruit reads as a tart, dusty shimmer that clings to the myrtle’s herbal resin. Patchouli anchors the whole thing from the start, dry and woody, never tipping into hippie earthiness. The development is linear but pleasant: what you smell at first spray is largely what you get an hour later, just softer and warmer, with a faint spicy hum from the mandarin leaf lingering like a late afternoon shadow.

This is a scent that feels like the inside of a stone cottage with wild herbs drying in the rafters, the windows open to a sun-baked Mediterranean garden. It’s natural and quietly aromatic, more apothecary than boutique, but with an unexpected blueberry twist that keeps it from being merely a rosemary substitute. The performance is its Achilles heel: longevity barely touches three and a half hours on skin, and sillage hovers closer to a personal scent bubble than a room-filler. You will need to reapply. That limits its reach, but for a spring morning or a summer afternoon where you want a clean, herbal lift without shouting, it works beautifully. Who should skip it? Anyone expecting a fruity gourmand or a patchouli bomb. Who should try it? The person who loves fresh, aromatic simplicity and doesn’t mind spraying again at lunch.
