Our take

Herbae by L’Occitane opens with a sharp, almost medicinal bite of pink pepper and bergamot that quickly softens into something more curious: ambrette lending a fuzzy, musky warmth like wool left in the sun. The heart is where this green floral gets interesting. Blackberry provides a tart, unripe fruitiness, nettle delivers that stinging chlorophyll bitterness, and rose hip adds a dry, powdery floral edge. It’s more meadow than garden, more weed than rose. The base of grass, wheat, and cashmeran dries down into a sort of hay-like sweetness with a whisper of honey, but the coumarin keeps it from tipping into gourmand territory.

The overall character is a patch of wild nettles at dawn, dewy and slightly angry, with a trace of crushed berries on your fingers. It feels natural but not rustic, leaning into an almost indie-green aesthetic while still smelling like a well-made mainstream release. The longevity is abysmal at 2.84 out of five and the sillage is barely a breath, so this is a fragrance for your own private enjoyment, not for filling a room. Ideal for a spring morning when the air is still cool, or a casual summer afternoon. Skip it if you want projection or a scent that lasts through lunch. Suits those who like green, vegetal, slightly bitter florals with a soft fruit accent, and who don’t mind reapplying. A quiet, lovely weed that whispers and then fades.
