Our take

Sheiduna No. 07 opens with a bright, almost abrasive tangerine that immediately gives way to a cloud of myrrh and incense, as if someone cracked a citrus fruit over a smoldering censer. The Bulgarian rose slips in beneath the smoke, not dewy or delicate but dark and jammy, thickened with clove and black currant. This is not a fragrance that whispers. It arrives with a warm, ambered shoulder and a balsamic sweetness from benzoin and vanilla pod that feels resinous rather than gourmand, held in check by vetiver and patchouli.

The development is a slow burn, moving from spicy citrus into a woody, almost churchy heart, then settling into a soft, powdery musk with a hint of tonka. The sillage is moderate, which is a blessing: at full blast this would be overwhelming. Longevity is solid, clinging to skin for six to eight hours without shouting. The overall impression is of a velvet-lined jewelry box that has held a hundred dried roses and a stick of frankincense for decades. It feels natural in its composition but undeniably niche in its refusal to please everyone. It suits those who want a fragrance that anchors a cold winter coat or finds its moment in the amber glow of a fall evening. Skip it if you prefer transparent scents or cannot tolerate a rose that walks the line between sacred and opulent.
