Our take

Yasuyuki Shinohara built Kamikura as a forest floor caught in bright sun. Yuzu and lime cut through the resin of oud and patchouli, while pine and cypress keep the air cool and sharp. Rosemary and lavender add a clean, herbal edge that never turns soapy, and vetiver with oakmoss pull the blend toward damp earth. It smells like walking through a wooded path at midday, when the trees filter the light and the ground still holds morning moisture. The citrus is vivid but never sweet, the woods are dry rather than smoky, and the whole composition feels precise, as if each ingredient was placed with tweezers.

The scent stays with you through a long day without ever announcing itself to the room. It moves as a personal layer, close and steady, carried in the fabric and on the skin rather than projected outward. That intimacy is part of its character, but the oud here lacks the depth found in sturdier compositions. It reads a bit thin, more suggestive than commanding, and the citrus eventually flattens against the woods instead of weaving through them. For a fragrance that promises a dense green landscape, it can feel oddly weightless once the initial brightness fades.
