Our take

Almond sits at the center of Innocent, a soft, marzipan sweetness that rounds out the tartness of black currant and red berries. Mandarin orange and bergamot open the fragrance on a bright citrus note, and at first it smells more like a fruit bowl than a Mugler release, before the almond and berries move in and round everything out. This is a gourmand built on fruit rather than vanilla, and the balance between the two, tart currant against sweet almond, carries the middle of the composition.

Praline and amber take over as the fragrance settles, adding a warm, slightly toasted sweetness under the fruit, while white musk keeps the whole thing soft and close to skin, not sharp. The base never grows heavy; it stays light and a little powdery, more marzipan than caramel. Staying power sits in the middle range, present through a normal day out without asking for a second look, and the sillage stays modest, noticed mainly by whoever is standing near you. It suits daytime wear better than evening, spring and fall especially, when the fruit and almond combination feels least out of place. Anyone who wants a fruity gourmand without the sugar overload common to the category should give it a try, though anyone hoping for real projection will come away disappointed.
