Chyprissime
Fragrance notes
Character
Chyprissime opens with a citrusy flash of bergamot and orange, but it’s a clever deception. Before you can enjoy the clarity, a thick, damp patchouli and oakmoss duo swells up from below, muddying the brightness. The pear sneaks in as a sweet, slightly syrupy counterpoint, but it never fully escapes the earthy pull. This is a chypre that feels like a forest floor after a rainstorm, the wet leaves and crushed moss clinging to your boots for hours. It’s unmistakably natural in its raw dirtiness, yet there’s a synthetic sheen on the fruity top that keeps it from feeling like a vintage relic. The longevity is decent, just under the four-hour mark for me, and the sillage sits close to the skin, a quiet hum rather than a shouted announcement. That restraint works in its favor. It suits the person who wants to smell like they’ve been walking through a wet orchard, not like they raided a perfume counter. Skip it if you dislike patchouli’s bitterness or find oakmoss too dusty, because this is all backbone, no fluff. Best worn on a crisp spring afternoon when the air has that last chill, or in early fall when the leaves start to turn. For summer, it’s heavy, and for winter, too brisk. Daywear all the way, preferably when you’re alone with your thoughts.
