Shaken Not Stirred opens with a sharp mix of bay leaf, rum, pepper, and cardamom. The bay leaf and laurels give the opening a green, slightly medicinal edge that sits close to the camphor accord. Rum adds a warm, boozy sweetness that the pepper and cardamom immediately cut into with dry heat. The spices do not soften quickly. Tea rose enters the heart and pulls the composition toward a traditional masculine floral, but the benzoin here is heavy and resinous rather than airy. It pushes the rose into an amber-toned warmth that feels dense on the skin. The sandalwood and musk in the base ground the florals and the spice, while vanilla smooths the sharper edges without making the blend feel like a dessert scent.
The fragrance stays in the fresh spicy and warm spicy lanes throughout its wear, with the woody and musky elements supporting the structure from the first hour. It is composed by Guillaume Flavigny and launched in 2015. The rum note remains noticeable well into the drydown, which keeps the profile consistent from start to finish. The limitation is the benzoin and vanilla combination. They create a thick, resinous weight that can feel heavy and slightly monotonous when the rose and spice do not push through clearly.
