Ferrum opens with fig, elemi, and rhubarb. The fig brings a soft, rounded fruitiness that sits close to the skin. Elemi adds a resinous, slightly peppery edge that keeps the fruit from feeling heavy. Rhubarb provides a green, tart snap that cuts through the sweetness and gives the start of the composition a fresh, slightly sharp character. The top notes move quickly, with the fig and rhubarb stepping aside as the heart begins to show.
White flowers and skin form the heart. The white flowers are creamy and smooth, lacking the sharp indoles that sometimes appear in this family. Skin adds a warm, slightly salty closeness that makes the floral aspect feel intimate rather than decorative. The transition here is seamless, with the green tartness of the opening fading into a soft, floral warmth that feels natural and unforced.
Amber and oud anchor the base. The amber is rich and sweet, carrying a balsamic depth that wraps around the remaining white flowers. Oud enters with a dark, animalic presence that adds weight and a slight medicinal dryness. The combination creates a heavy, resinous finish where the amber's sweetness and the oud's woodiness pull in different directions, leaving a dense, aromatic trail that grows darker as the amber settles into the deeper, more balsamic facets of the composition.
