Imperium opens with oud and saffron placed beside red fruits. The fruit is present but restrained, offering a sharp edge that cuts through the resinous start. Saffron brings a warm, slightly metallic heat that sits close to the wood. Lily-of-the-valley and jasmine follow, adding a clean white floral layer that softens the intensity of the opening. The flowers feel crisp rather than sweet, providing a brief pause before the base takes over.
The drydown centers on guaiac wood, patchouli, and cashmere wood, supported by amber. Patchouli adds an earthy depth that grounds the composition, while the two woods create a dry, textured finish. Amber lends a subtle golden warmth without turning the blend sugary. The overall character is woody, amber, and warm spicy, with noticeable balsamic and musky facets. The metallic accord from the saffron lingers into the base, keeping the profile sharp.
The white floral heart is faint and disappears quickly under the weight of the woods. The red fruit note also lacks presence after the first few minutes, leaving the top feeling unbalanced. The saffron dominates early and never fully integrates with the floral middle. This leaves the transition between the opening and the base feeling abrupt rather than smooth.
