You’re So Vain opens with a sharp burst of grapefruit and lemon, green notes slicing through like a freshly cut stem. The citrus settles quickly into a tart black currant and red fruit cocktail, but the white tobacco adds an unexpected haze, a dry almost hay-like whisper that keeps the fruit from going cloying. Down in the base, oakmoss and patchouli provide a woody, slightly earthy anchor, with nutmeg flickering like a wry wink.
The overall impression is that of a crisp linen shirt tossed onto a picnic blanket under dappled light, a bit of bite but no real weight. It feels natural enough, though the fruit accord leans synthetic in its brightness, and the composition is decidedly niche in its refusal to pander to sweetness.
