Our take

Damascus opens with a sharp cinnamon that claws through the orange and neroli like a winter sun burning off morning frost. That initial heat is almost abrasive, but it softens quickly as myrrh and tobacco roll in, dusty and resinous, with sandalwood adding a creamy backbone. The drydown is a dense amber patchouli hug, powdery and balsamic, all the spice settles into a warm skin scent. This is the fragrance equivalent of a velvet smoking jacket worn by a firelight, luxurious but not fussy, rich without drowning you.

It leans heavy and sweet, more natural than synthetic, firmly in niche territory with that Gritti polish. The longevity and sillage are honest rather than spectacular, three to four hours of noticeable presence before it becomes a close companion. That makes it perfect for the office or a dinner date where you want to be felt but not announced. Fall is its stage, winter its second act, though it works for crisp spring evenings too. It is equally at home during a lazy Sunday brunch or a late night whiskey tasting.

This suits someone who appreciates a classic oriental with a modern edge, someone who wants to smell expensive without shouting. Skip it if you hate sweet tobacco or find cinnamon cloying, or if you demand beast mode projection. Damascus is a well tailored coat, not a neon sign.
