Our take

Loverdose Red Kiss opens like a candy store sprinkled with regret. You get sugar and black currant first, a sticky, almost jammy sweetness that feels loud and synthetic, the kind of fruit that stains your fingers. Then apple and bergamot try to cut through, but they are no match for the chocolate-hazelnut wallop in the heart. The cacao pod and hazelnut are the main event here, a Nutella-smeared accord that smells more like a dessert bar than a perfume. The orange blossom and apricot add a cheap, fuzzy warmth, like a fruit punch spiked with cough syrup.

It dries down to a patchouli and amber base that is surprisingly woody, but the sweetness never really lets go. This is a coal miner’s canary in a red patent leather jacket: it is loud, it is obvious, and it knows exactly what it is. Performance is moderate. Longevity clocks in just above average for a mainstream scent, and sillage hovers close to skin after an hour, which might be a relief given how cloying the opening can be. This is best for cold weather, fall and winter nights especially, when the sticky warmth can cocoon you instead of suffocating a room.

Who should wear it? Someone who wants to smell edible and unapologetically girly, who likes their sweetness thick and their sophistication minimal. Skip it if you prefer airy florals or subtle scents. This is a perfume for a date, not a boardroom, and honestly, it works best when you are already planning to get dirty.
