Plus Plus Masculine

Character
Plus Plus Masculine opens with a bright, almost pushy citrus burst of orange and bergamot that quickly gets tangled in a strange, dusty palm leaf and a heliotrope creaminess that feels like a gym bag left in a greenhouse. That initial sweetness is the bait, but the heart reveals Diesel’s real trick: a green, soapy jasmine and coriander trying to thread through a thicket of birch, violet, and cardamom. It smells like a rumpled barbershop where someone forgot to empty the ashtray. The drydown doesn’t so much settle as sprawl into a powdery, warm-spicy base of cinnamon, tonka, nutmeg, and a synthetic-leathery patchouli that fights with clove and oakmoss for attention.
This is a mainstream Oriental Woody from 1997, loud in concept but shy in execution. With a longevity of 2.81 and sillage barely scraping 2.46, it fades faster than its laundry list of notes suggests, leaving just a ghost of cinnamon and musk after an hour. The 3.90 rating feels generous — the sweetness is cloying in heat, and the complexity never coheres into balance. Who should wear this? The guy who wants a cheap thrill on a spring afternoon, a scent that buzzes artificially like neon in daylight. Skip it if you crave subtlety, natural ingredients, or anything that won't evaporate by lunch. Wear it to a daytime party or a casual park hang, but don't expect compliments past the first spray. Can a fragrance promise everything deliver nothing?
