Does a honey scent have to be light and cheerful to work? This one opens with thick beeswax and amber that feel heavy and golden, almost resinous on the skin. Champaca adds a deep floral weight that avoids brightness, sitting close to the wax instead of floating above it. The first impression is rich and slightly dirty, moving away from clean gourmand territory into something more organic.
The heart brings tangerine and orange blossom, but they do not lift the composition into fresh air. Jasmine rounds out the white florals with a soft, indolic touch that blends into the wax. It smells like a flower pressed into warm resin rather than a spray of citrus water. The fruit here is deep and syrupy, lacking the snap of a true summer scent.
As it settles, the base takes over with cumin and incense, creating a dry, pungent heat. Myrrh and Thailand oud add a dark, medicinal woodiness, while coriander and black pepper provide a rough, aromatic edge. Tonka bean tries to smooth the sharper spices, but the cumin remains prominent. It is a dense, balsamic mix that feels suited to a heavy coat and a quiet, dimly lit room.
The spices lean so hard into the cumin that the blend can read as sweaty rather than exotic. It is a challenging wear for anyone sensitive to that specific note, as it dominates the beautiful beeswax and precious woods. The balance feels slightly off, letting one aggressive element overshadow the expensive materials.
