Our take

Mandarava erupts like a golden statue wrapped in smoke and honey, its opening a dizzying collision of aldehydes and champaca that feels less like perfume and more like a buried treasure unearthed in a monsoon. The tuberose and gardenia are present but not innocent; they’ve been dragged through the undergrowth with civet and cumin, and the whole thing swells with a sweet, animalic warmth that borders on feral. As it settles, the ash and cypriol emerge like damp temple stone, while the amber and benzoin knot everything into a sticky, resinous heart. The dry down is where it earns its keep: a woody, balsamic base of oud, sandalwood, and oakmoss that feels ancient and creaking, like a cabinet full of dried petals and incense ash.

This is not a shy fragrance. It’s heavy, unabashedly floral-dominant, and deeply natural in its funk, like wearing a whole garden after it’s been left to compost in the sun. The sillage and longevity are decent but not monstrous, which actually works in its favor given the density of the blend. Who should wear it? Anyone who craves a unisex floral with teeth, where the sweetness comes from real flowers and sticky resins, not candied vanilla. Skip it if you prefer your florals airbrushed or your animalics in the background. Best worn in spring or fall evenings, when the air can carry that bloom without suffocating you. Is there anything more satisfying than a perfume that smells like it’s been alive for centuries?
