Zaffiro
Fragrance notes
Zaffiro opens with bright bergamot and grapefruit, sharpened by cardamom, artemisia, and saffron. The citrus is clear and immediate, while the spice adds a brisk edge that keeps the start from feeling soft. Jasmine and rose arrive in the heart alongside nutmeg, labdanum, and sandalwood. The flowers are present but not dominant, and the sandalwood lends a smooth, slightly resinous warmth that begins to shift the fragrance away from its crisp opening.
The base gives the composition its true weight. Cedar and patchouli provide a dry, woody foundation, while brandy, vanilla, and tonka bean introduce a rounded, sweet richness. The brandy note adds a gentle, fermented depth that keeps the sweetness from becoming flat. Labdanum and sandalwood carry through from the heart, bridging the florals into the heavier base. Nutmeg lingers as a quiet spice that ties the warmer elements together. The result is a dense, amber-leaning drydown where vanilla and patchouli settle beside cedar and tonka bean.
