Our take

Eau de New York opens with a brisk wash of grapefruit, bergamot, mandarin orange, and petitgrain. The effect is bright and leafy, with lemon verbena adding a clean, almost luminous edge. Basil brings a green aromatic snap, giving the citrus some texture and keeping the opening lively instead of merely juicy. It feels like sunlight catching on wet leaves beside a city park, crisp and full of movement.

Neroli becomes the main character as the fragrance settles. Jasmine, gardenia, lily, and cyclamen build a smooth white-floral center, though the flowers stay airy and polished. There is a fresh, lightly soapy quality here, balanced by the herbal lift of basil and the cool zest of the citrus notes. Eau de New York has a refined unisex shape, with enough clarity for a shirt collar and enough floral softness to feel relaxed on bare skin.

The drydown deserves patience. Oakmoss gives the composition a mossy green depth, while vetiver adds a dry, earthy line beneath the clean floral tones. Musk softens the edges, and white woods leave a pale, tidy finish that feels elegant without becoming heavy. The base is long-lasting, and its modest bubble keeps the scent present in a close social setting. It suits spring and summer especially well, whether worn to work, outdoors, or for a casual lunch. Nighttime dressier occasions may call for something denser, but daytime wear is where Eau de New York shows its best balance: fresh, composed, and quietly distinctive.
