Our take

Ruby Candlelight can feel heavy for those who prefer a light, airy composition. The honey and beeswax accords provide a thick, golden sweetness that dominates the blend. Raspberry and cassis add a tart fruitiness, but the sugar from the honey often pushes the fragrance toward a dense, sticky profile. Bulgarian rose and rose petals sit inside this sweetness, lending a floral softness that struggles to rise above the wax. Bergamot and raspberry leaf offer a green edge, though they do not brighten the overall weight. Ambrette and Australian sandalwood ground the mix with a woody, slightly musky presence, while frankincense and myrrh add a resinous depth. Oakmoss contributes an earthy tone that keeps the sweetness from becoming completely polished.

The animalic accord is present and may feel too bold for daily wear. Composed by Dawn Spencer Hurwitz and launched in 2021, this unisex fragrance wears dense and rich. The fruit, rose, and honey never fully separate, creating a unified, heavy ribbon of scent. Blackberry leaf and the green accord add a slight herbal touch, but the beeswax and honey remain the loudest voices. It suits cooler evenings and formal settings where a pronounced, sweet floral resin feels appropriate. Those who dislike thick, honeyed compositions or strong animalic notes will find it overwhelming. The density is the defining trait here, and it limits how often the fragrance feels comfortable to reach for.
