Our take

Derviche opens with a bright, almost irreverent bergamot that quickly gets smothered by a heavy hand of tobacco leaf and something distinctly feral. The civet here is no polite whisper; it’s a wet, furry presence that rubs up against the leather and jasmine, turning the white floral into something carnal and slightly unwashed. Saffron and olibanum add a dusty, ritualistic heat, like old prayer beads warmed by nervous fingers. As it dries down, the vanilla and labdanum soften the edges into a powdery, ambered musk, while sandalwood provides a creamy anchor. The overall effect is that of a whirling dervish who has been chain-smoking cloves in a leather jacket, then stumbled into a temple full of burning incense and spilled honey. It feels undeniably niche, natural in its rawness but with a synthetic edge in the vanilla that keeps it from being too precious. The longevity is respectable at just over three hours, and the sillage stays close to the skin a polite cloud rather than a bellow. This is for someone who wants to smell like a sweaty dance with the sacred and the profane. Skip it if you fear dirty notes or crave projection that fills a room. Wear it on a cool autumn night, when the air can handle its animalic weight, or in the dead of winter to remind yourself that warmth isn’t always clean.
