Silver Cloud
Fragrance notes
Character
Silver Cloud opens with a brisk mix of lavender and grapefruit. The lavender carries a dry, herbal edge while the grapefruit adds a sharp citrus brightness. This combination feels clean and direct, moving quickly into the heart where geranium takes over. The geranium lends a green, slightly peppery floral tone that bridges the fresh opening with the heavier base. It keeps the early impression from becoming too sweet or too sharp, settling instead into a steady middle ground that feels composed and balanced.
The base reveals incense, vetiver, amberwood, juniper berries, and tonka bean. Incense and vetiver create a smoky, woody foundation with an earthy dryness. Amberwood and tonka bean add warmth and a soft, rounded sweetness that never becomes heavy. Juniper berries bring a quiet, resinous spice that lingers beneath the surface. The overall character is amber, balsamic, and warm spicy, leaning into a masculine-leaning unisex profile that feels grounded and slightly formal.
The blend is smooth, but the tonka bean and amberwood can dominate if the incense is not strong enough on your skin. The grapefruit also disappears very fast, leaving the lavender to carry more weight than it should early on. Bertrand Duchaufour composed Silver Cloud for Step Aboard in 2023, and while the structure is clear, the transition between the bright top and the deep base feels a bit rushed. The notes do not always meld into a seamless whole.
