Our take

Venom Incarnat opens with a burst of jammy berries, wild strawberry and blackberry crushed together with a slick of caramel that feels almost medicinal in its sweetness. The fruit is not fresh, it's concentrated, like the syrupy residue at the bottom of a compote pot. Raspberry soon joins the heart, but the Virginian cedar and cinnamon step in to dry out the edges, pulling the scent away from pure candy and toward something darker. The base is where the name earns its keep: Russian leather, patchouli, and balsam fir wrap the remaining caramel and vanilla in a smoky, resinous hide. The overall character is a poisoned velvet glove, soft and sticky on the inside, tough and weathered on the outside. It feels decidedly niche, rich and slightly synthetic in the opening but grounded by the leather and woods. The performance is honest, longevity sits at a reliable moderate and sillage stays close, which suits its intimate fall and winter personality perfectly. Who should wear this? Anyone who wants a sweet gourmand that doesn't play innocent, who enjoys a berry dessert served in a saddlebag. Who should skip? Those who prefer light, airy fruity florals, because this is a dense, syrupy affair that can cloy in heat. Wear it for a crisp evening out, a leather jacket and a glass of dark red wine. It won't roar, but it will linger like a whispered threat. 🍇
