Our take

Lumiora opens with black currant that feels tart and slightly candied. It gives the start a fruity lift that moves quickly into the heart. The floral core brings narcissus, cyclamen, jasmine, and rose together in a yellow floral mix that reads bright and slightly powdery. The narcissus adds a green, stemmy edge that keeps the flowers from feeling flat. Jasmine and rose carry the softness while cyclamen adds a cool, watery touch that matches the marine accord sitting underneath the entire structure.

The base introduces incense, benzoin, oud, and patchouli. The incense and oud create a smoky, resinous foundation that feels heavy against the fresh top. Benzoin adds a warm balsamic sweetness that blends with the amber accord. Patchouli grounds the mix with an earthy, dark tone. The salty marine note continues through the drydown, which creates an unusual contrast against the rich oriental base. The aromatic accord runs through the middle and keeps the florals from becoming too dense.

The composition tries to balance a fresh, aquatic character with a heavy oriental base. The result is a fragrance that pulls in two directions at once. The marine and salty elements sit uneasily next to the smoky oud and incense. The balsamic sweetness from benzoin sometimes clashes with the tart black currant instead of rounding it out. The green stemminess from the narcissus does not fully bridge the gap between the cool florals and the warm resins.
