Our take

Madrigals is not a fragrance for someone who wants a simple, pretty bouquet. The opening hits with a sharp bite of galbanum and bergamot that feels almost medicinal before the flowers arrive. Lily-of-the-valley and jasmine push through that green fog, but the scent never settles into a soft comfort zone. It carries a rough, slightly synthetic edge that scratches at the nose rather than soothes it.

In a concrete courtyard behind a Soviet block, laundry hangs on a line between two windows. The white sheets snap in a brisk wind while a woman leans over a wooden table, stripping lavender stems into a ceramic bowl. Bergamot peel sits in a small pile beside her, next to a jar of patchouli oil with a faded label. The air smells of crushed herbs, damp earth, and cold stone.

Coriander and vetiver twist through the heart, pulling the white florals down into the soil. Rose tries to lift the composition, but the oakmoss and earthy accords keep it grounded in the shade. Musk and amber warm the base just enough to keep the green bitterness from turning completely cold. It is a scent that feels honest about its austerity.

The wind catches the sheets, wrapping the woman in a cloud of damp fabric and sharp garden stems.
