Our take

Ramon Molvizar’s 4elements opens with a startling jolt of wet soil, as if you’ve pressed your nose to freshly turned earth after a spring rain. That earthy tincture quickly softens into a dewy cluster of cyclamen, lily-of-the-valley, and a whisper of melon—a green, almost translucent sweetness that keeps the dirt from turning grim. A fleeting raspberry flicker lends a tart, photorealistic brightness before the heart coils into something more complex: truffle and ginger lace the watery florals with a savory, peppery warmth, while neroli and jasmine hum in the background like distant conversations.

The drydown is where the fragrance stakes its claim. Woody notes—cedar, sandalwood, a restrained oud—tangle with honeyed amber and vanilla, but the musk and vetiver keep it from collapsing into dessert-like sweetness. The overall character is that of a limestone grotto after a storm: damp stone, crushed petals, and the faint mineral tang of roots. It feels natural in its ingredients yet synthetic in the way those competing accords—earthy, aquatic, floral, woody—are sanded into a single, cohesive paste. This is niche for its willingness to smell like terroir, but the longevity (a modest three-point-three) and sillage (barely a whisper at three-point-one) betray its ambitions. It’s a spring or autumn daytime scent, best worn when you want to smell interesting rather than loud. Skip it if you crave projection or gourmand comfort. Who wears this? A gardener who also owns a leather notebook, someone who finds beauty in decay and still, expectant air.
