Character
Irth by Nabeel opens like a market stall in a hot spice souk, where a vendor has just sliced a dozen overripe fruits and doused them in rosewater and coffee. The initial burst is a dazzle of candied pineapple, peach, strawberry, and black currant, all tangled with cinnamon, pink pepper, and a sharp cumin that jolts the nose awake. It feels almost syrupy sweet at first, but that’s quickly tempered by a dry, smoky heart where oud and cypriol oil meet a powdery iris and a leathery rose. The base is where things get truly interesting: civet and ambergris give a warm, animalic hum, while vanilla, labdanum, and incense wrap everything in a resinous, almost church-like stillness. The overall impression is a jeweled dagger tucked into a velvet cushion: opulent, slightly dangerous, and definitely not shy.
This is a loud, complex fragrance that leans heavy and sweet with a distinctly synthetic edge in the fruit notes, though the woody and balsamic base feels rich and natural. It’s more niche than mainstream in ambition, but it wears its ambitions like a brocade coat in July: impressive, but stifling in the wrong weather. With moderate sillage and longevity (around three to four hours on skin before it becomes a soft skin scent), it demands reapplication for night wear, where it truly shines. Suits those who adore maximalist oriental gourmands with a feral twist; skip it if you prefer clean or airy scents, or if cumin and civet make you flinch. Best reserved for cool autumn evenings, a winter formal, or a date where you want to leave a trace that’s half sugar, half smoke.
