Devi opens with a thick slice of mango and dried apricot that feels heavy and sun-warmed, joined quickly by a creamy coconut that rounds the fruit into something smooth. The heart brings Indian spices and sandalwood beneath jasmine sambac and neroli, so the floral side stays warm rather than bright. Oud and iris anchor the base alongside castoreum and musk, giving the drydown a resinous, slightly animalic wood that feels dense on the skin. The accord list calls it tropical, fruity, sweet, warm spicy, woody, powdery, terpenic, and white floral, and all of those descriptors fit at once because the composition keeps layering contrasting elements without letting one dominate for long.
The sweetness is persistent and the spice never fully recedes, so the fragrance stays in a warm, golden register that suits a dim room and a cool evening breeze through a window. It feels crafted and intentional, composed by Jorge Lee and Ricardo Ramos for their 2023 release under the Ricardo Ramos Perfumes de Autor label. The one limitation is the castoreum and oud combination, which creates a strong animalic edge that can feel abrasive to someone who prefers clean or soapy woods.
