Character
Bitter orange and whiskey meet first, a bright citrus peel dropped into a glass of spirit. Coriander and clove add a dry, herbal edge that keeps the opening from feeling sweet. Black pepper and ginger bring a sharp lift that cuts through the heavier notes.
Tobacco sits at the center, leafy and slightly resinous. Calamus adds a crisp, green bitterness that stops the heart from turning dense. Mastic or lentisque brings a pine-like freshness that feels clean rather than sticky.
Patchouli anchors the base with an earthy weight. Amber adds a soft, golden warmth that rounds the edges without making the blend sugary. The animalic accord is present, giving the drydown a skin-like depth that feels intimate rather than loud.
The one drawback is the mastic note, which can read as medicinal and sharp on some skin. It never fully melts into the tobacco the way a smoother resin would. Anyone sensitive to that pine-like bite may find the composition harder to enjoy.
