Our take

Mandarin leaf and orange blossom open Dior Addict Eau de Parfum on a bright, slightly bitter citrus note, sharper and greener than the mandarin fruit itself would give, before jasmine sambac takes the center almost immediately.

Bourbon vanilla anchors the base, and François Demachy built the whole thing around a narrow set of notes, which gives the fragrance a focused, almost minimalist orange-blossom-and-vanilla character rather than a sprawling floral bouquet.

The vanilla base is steadfast, giving it real staying power, and sillage is noticeable, an orange blossom haze that lingers in a doorway after you have walked through it. Winter and fall are where the season figures point most strongly, and the night numbers dwarf the day ones, which fits a fragrance built around warm vanilla and heady white flowers over anything crisp or cold.

The jasmine keeps a green, slightly indolic edge alive against all that vanilla sweetness, so the drydown never turns purely gourmand. It smells rich without smelling sticky, powdery around the edges, and reads as an evening fragrance for anyone who wants sweetness carried with some backbone. The bourbon vanilla is what lingers longest, warm and a little boozy, once the citrus and jasmine have both faded into it.
