Our take

Donna Sentenza opens with a blast of ripe banana, the kind that’s just shy of turning brown, mashed into a cloud of aerosolized whipped cream. It smells like the inside of a dessert case at a high-end bakery, all sugared pulp and dairy sweetness, with vanilla lapping at the edges like melted ice cream. As it develops, the banana softens into something more custard-like, while the whipped cream turns powdery and slightly waxy, like the residue left on your fingers after tearing open a packet of instant pudding. The dry down is all vanilla, a dense, almost boozy vanilla that clings to a warm skin scent, but by then the projection has already packed its bags. With a sillage score barely nudging 2.4 and longevity hovering just over three hours, this fragrance is a shy shout. It’s a whisper of a gourmand, a single perfect bite that disappears before you can ask for another. You wear it for yourself, for the moment you press your nose to your wrist and catch the ghost of a banana split eaten on a sun-warmed patio in June. If you love sweet, gluttonous scents that feel like a treat rather than a statement, this will charm you. But if you demand presence or want your fragrance to do the talking from across the room, skip it. Best suited to lazy afternoons, spring and summer daylight hours, when you want to smell like the best part of your dessert, even if only you get to enjoy it.
