Our take

Dream Big by Benetton opens with a bright, dewy burst of tuberose and freesia, all creamy white petals and a hint of green stem. It feels optimistic, almost naive, like a spring morning you wish would last forever. But within minutes, the jasmine and oriental notes creep in, softening the florals into a powdery, musky haze. The drydown settles on a warm woody base tinged with amber and a touch of animalic warmth. It is sweet but not cloying, leaning synthetic in that cheerful mainstream way that drugstore perfumes do so well. The overall character is a faded photograph of a garden party: pretty, pleasant, and slightly blurry around the edges.

Here is the trouble. For a fragrance called Dream Big, it has remarkably little ambition. The longevity barely reaches three hours, and the sillage is a shy whisper. You get a lovely whiff when you spray, then nothing. Why does such a promising opening evaporate so quickly? The numbers are honest here: this is a fleeting pleasure, not a lasting impression. It shines best in spring and fall, where its powdery softness can linger on a sweater.

This is a fragrance for the woman who wants a gentle, unoffensive floral for daytime errands, a quick coffee date, or the office cubicle where sillage is a crime. Skip it if you need a statement or a scent that carries you through dinner. Dream Big is a pretty little daydream, but it never quite wakes up. 🌸
