Our take

A sun-bleached basil leaf, slick with sea spray and crushed under a sandal, is the closest I can get to pinning down what Nishane's EGE smells like. It opens with a sharp, almost citric snap of yuzu, but that brightness is immediately tangled in violet leaves and a mentholated anise that borders on medicinal. The anise never retreats, even as a fluffy wave of mint and cardamom rolls in to soften the edges. This is where the heart shines, a green aromatic cushion that smells like a Greek hillside after a sudden shower, all damp herbs and warm stone.

The drydown settles into a surprisingly sweet licorice accord, softened by a whisper of olibanum that adds a faint, churchy resin. The projection here is the fragrance’s biggest weakness, a modest 2.93 that keeps it close to the skin, almost like a personal secret. Longevity is decent but not heroic, a solid afternoon fade. This is emphatically a daytime scent for the hottest months, spring and summer where its aquatic, ozonic undertones can breathe. It feels more niche than mainstream, deliberately odd with that persistent licorice spine, and best suits someone who wants to smell like a drenched herb garden rather than a cocktail. Skip it if you dislike anise or crave projection monsters.
