Oud Reale opens with a dense wall of oud and guaiac wood. Cloves and carnation add a sharp, peppery heat that cuts through the heavy timber. The sandalwood offers a brief moment of creamy softness before the composition turns darker.
Vetiver enters the heart with an earthy, root-like bitterness. The woods here feel dry and textured, like walking through a room filled with antique timber and old leather-bound books. It is a scent that feels heavy on the skin, suited to a cold evening where the air is crisp and the light is low.
The base is where the fragrance reveals its true weight. Castoreum brings a raw, animalic leather tone that dominates the drydown. Wheat adds an unusual, grain-like warmth that sits beneath the dominant oud. The vetiver lingers, providing a clean, soil-like contrast to the rich, musky animalics.
This is not a bright or airy composition. It is a study in dark materials, leaning heavily into the smoky and leather accords. The floral touch from the carnation vanishes completely, leaving only the deep, resonant wood and the distinct scent of castoreum.
