Character
Laotian oud and Taif rose lead the first breath, but the floral facet stays restrained. The rose lends a cool, dewy touch that softens the resinous opening without turning sweet. It is a brief introduction that sets a solemn tone before the heavier elements take hold.
Benzoin and Madagascar vanilla arrive with amber, building a golden, resinous warmth. Oud runs through this central stage, earthy and slightly medicinal, anchored by the vanilla's rounded body. The blend feels dense and polished, moving away from the bright start into something far more substantial.
The base is where Triptych settles into its true character. Cambodian oud joins the earlier strains, supported by Australian sandalwood, cedar, and gurjan balsam. The woods feel dark and dry, with a faint animalic edge that gives the perfume a raw, unapologetic weight. Powdery shadows drift through the resin, creating a scent that feels like stepping into a wood-paneled room lit only by candlelight, where the air is thick with ancient timber and warm resin.
Triptych asks for a cold night and a heavy coat. It fits a person who wants their scent to feel like a private, architectural space rather than a cheerful accessory.
