Our take

Coconut powder opens Vanilla Powder on a dry, almost cosmetic note, more sunscreen than dessert, before heliotrope adds a soft, almond-adjacent sweetness that rounds the sharper coconut edges. It holds up impressively over time, refusing to fade quickly, and it carries well beyond a polite distance, the kind of scent a stranger in an elevator would ask about.

Madagascar vanilla takes over the heart, rich and slightly boozy, layered thick enough that it reads as the true center of the composition rather than a supporting note.

By the base, vanilla absolute and coconut return, thickened by lactones into something creamy and almost milky, while palo santo adds a dry, resinous wood underneath that cuts through the cream. The lactones in particular give it that rounded, dairy-like softness closer to steamed milk than to sugar. White musk ties the whole base together with a clean, soft finish.

Fall and winter are where this makes the most sense, when a dense, sweet gourmand feels most seasonally at home. It stays unmistakably a gourmand throughout, thick and sweet from open to close, with enough depth built into the composition to reward anyone who pays attention as it develops.
