Our take

This is incense stripped of all piety, a smoky black pepper blast that smells less like a cathedral and more like a mechanic who just finished burning palo santo under the hood of a motorcycle. The opening is sharp, almost acerbic, with olibanum and black pepper cutting through the air like a cold draft. Then the heart turns woody and leathery, with birch and a faint ghost of licorice that adds a bitter, sooty sweetness. It stays lean, never syrupy. The drydown is a warm cedar and vetiver whisper, a charred skeleton of what came before.

The overall character is a burned-out matchstick still faintly glowing in an ashtray at dawn. It feels synthetic in the best way—deliberately abrasive, niche without being pretentious, heavy on presence but light in actual projection. The numbers tell the story: sillage barely hits 3 out of 5, longevity limps past three hours. This is a skin scent for brooding. It suits someone who wants to smell like they walked through a controlled fire and came out smelling of leather and licorice, not marshmallows. Skip it if you need compliments or projection. Wear it on a cold autumn night or in the dead of winter, when the air is dry enough to hold its smolder close. It’s a fragrance that stays private, and that’s exactly the point.
