Our take

Standard opens with a startlingly green bite. Watercress and fennel cut through a brisk Amalfi lemon, all sharp vegetal tang and prickly ginger. That first spray is like stepping into a damp greenhouse where someone just crushed a handful of wild herbs. The heart warms as saffron threads weave through a delicate tea note and a fleeting honeysuckle sweetness. But this is no floral bouquet. Virginia cedar steps forward, dry and splintery, grounding everything in a woody frame that feels almost architectural. The drydown softens into a clean musk and a whisper of worn leather, from the soft spicy accord rather than any listed note.

This is a fragrance built for close encounters. With a rating just over four and sillage barely above two and a half, it refuses to shout. Instead it settles into a personal bubble like a well worn linen shirt, starched at the collar. Olivier Pescheux crafted something deliberately modest. The greenness stays crisp without tipping into salad bowl territory, and the powdery undertone keeps it from feeling harsh. But that low longevity means you will need to reapply by midday.

It suits someone who dresses with precision and speaks in complete sentences. Skip it if you crave sweetness, projection, or anything that announces your arrival from across the room. Wear it on a cool spring morning with a light jacket, or during a summer afternoon when you want to smell clean without smelling like laundry. One rhetorical question: why would you want to roar when a quiet sentence can say more?
