Our take

Wonderoud opens with a stern, almost medicinal blast of agarwood, the kind of oud that feels like splintered timber soaked in iodine. It lacks the barnyard funk of real oud but leans into a sharp, resinous cleanliness that is unmistakably Comme des Garcons: synthetic yet refined, like a laboratory reconstruction of a rainforest floor. Within twenty minutes, the fresh spicy accord creeps in, a ghost of pink peppercorn and something subtly camphoraceous that lifts the woodiness just enough to keep it from suffocating. The dry down is surprisingly soft, a bare whisper of smoked wood and dry incense clinging to the skin for perhaps four hours. Sillage is intimate to the point of being shy, so do not expect to announce your arrival.

This is a fragrance that behaves like a single black feather caught in a beam of cold winter light: precise, minimal, and utterly self-contained. It feels niche in its austerity, a stripped-back meditation on one note rather than a composition. It suits those who appreciate conceptual scents, who want to smell like a piece of raw lumber rather than a bouquet or a spice market. Skip it if you crave warmth, sweetness, or projection. Wear this to a gallery opening in late autumn, or on a brisk January afternoon when you want your cologne to match the bite in the air. It is a beautiful oddity, but an oddity nonetheless, and its quiet longevity means you will have to reapply to keep the spell going.
