Our take

You get the name first: Italian Zest. And indeed, the opening is a sharp, sun-blasted wedge of grapefruit and bergamot, lemon and mandarin all tumbling over each other with a pithy bitterness that feels like biting into a rind. There is a brief moment where Sichuan pepper and rosemary flicker in, adding a prickly, herbal warmth to the citrus, but the heart is thin. Hedione and freesia float a soft, slightly floral sheen, while the Palisander rosewood offers a dry, almost pencil-shaving woodiness that tries to anchor things. The base of musk, incense, oakmoss and amberwood is barely a whisper. What lingers is a ghostly, clean musk with a hint of smoke, but you have to press your nose to your wrist to find it. The whole experience is like a chilled glass of limoncello left on a hot terrace for ten minutes: bright and refreshing at first, then quickly evaporating, leaving only a faint sticky sweetness on the glass. The longevity is a genuine disappointment at 2.82, and the sillage stays skin close, so this is a personal pleasure, not a statement. It feels natural and well blended, more refined than the original Light Blue, but also more timid. Wear it on a scorching summer afternoon when you want a clean, aromatic lift without announcing yourself. Skip this if you need a fragrance to last through a workday or command a room. For a quick, optimistic spritz before a beachside lunch or a lazy Sunday walk in the heat, it does the job, even if the job is done almost before you remember you put it on.
