Our take

The sun sits high over a clearing where the ground is warm and the air carries the dry heat of the day. Frankincense rises first, its resinous weight softened by the clean press of bergamot and the gentle bite of pink pepper. Lavender and petitgrain add a calm, herbal brightness that keeps the opening from feeling heavy. Ambergris sits underneath, giving the air a faint, salty smoothness that makes the space feel open rather than enclosed.

Around the edges of the clearing, fir and cypress stand tall, their needles releasing a green, resinous scent when the air moves. Black spruce and juniper deepen the forest feeling, while clary sage brings a slightly woolly, herbal touch. Patchouli grounds the middle with an earthy richness that ties the trees to the earth. The blend feels natural and unpolished, like walking through a grove that has not been shaped by hands.

As the light touches the trunks, mint cools the air near the ground, joined by oakmoss and vetiver for a damp, rooty depth. Sandalwood and atlas cedar add smooth wood, while natural musk and oud give a dark, animalic warmth. Thyme and incense linger in the final breath, leaving a balsamic, soft spicy finish that settles into the quiet of the grove.
