Our take

Lost Lotus is a fragrance for the wearer who wants to be enveloped, not announced. The opening pairs yellow mandarin with styrax, and the citrus is quickly absorbed into a resinous weight that feels deliberate. Ambergris adds a salty lift, but the entry is already leaning toward the heavy side of the catalogue.

The heart is a dense garden. Blue lotus and pink lotus sit beside osmanthus, linden blossom, frangipani, tuberose, and rose, while fir needles cut a narrow green path through the petals. The flowers are lush rather than dewy, and the fir prevents the center from collapsing into a single creamy block.

Mathew Schmuelian builds the foundation with frankincense and three regional ouds. Thailand oud, Indian oud, and Laotian oud layer together, supported by natural musk. The result is a resinous wood that smells expensive and slightly animalic, fitting the amber accord without becoming a sugar-heavy oriental.

This is best worn in cool weather when the air can hold the resin. Choose it when the plan is to stay in one place and let the room notice the scent gradually. It fits a quiet evening where the clothes and the atmosphere matter more than the entrance.
