White Soho
Fragrance notes
Character
White Soho opens with a soft, fuzzy pop of ambrette, that musky seed note that feels like clean laundry left to dry in a sunbeam. The orris root arrives quickly, but not as a screeching violet-powder: this is a dry, almost salty iris, dusted over the ambrette like fine milled chalk. The dry down is where the white woods take over, a pale, slightly sweetened cedar that lacks any resinous bite, which is both its charm and its limitation. The whole composition feels like a minimalist hotel lobby in early April, all bleached linen and polished concrete, where the scent hangs just at the edge of perception and then vanishes. With longevity hovering around three hours and sillage barely a whisper, this is a fragrance you wear for yourself, not for the room. It wears like a cashmere sweater that’s been washed too many times, soft and familiar but lacking any real body. The synthetic undertones are noticeable if you press your nose to your wrist, but the overall effect is pleasant, a gentle woody musk that feels more like a memory of a scent than the thing itself. Ideal for a casual daytime spring shift, perhaps a coffee meeting or a lazy Sunday, and while the community loves it across all seasons, the powder and pale wood risk feeling washed out in deep winter. Skip this if you crave projection or any kind of daring twist. Everyone else? It is a safe, inoffensive hug that fades before you have time to miss it.
