Our take

Modern Muse leans hard into white flowers, mandarin orange barely visible before jasmine sambac, tuberose, lily and honeysuckle stack into a dense floral bouquet with almost no green space between them. Its hold on skin is average, neither quick to fade nor especially stubborn, and it casts a small, contained presence, easily picked up at conversation distance. Patchouli and woody notes underneath add weight to the sweetness, and a touch of animalic musk gives the drydown some grit instead of letting it stay purely pretty.

Harry Fremont and Olivier Cresp built it as a daylight floral, and it wears that way, brightest in spring when the honeysuckle and orange have room to show before the muskier base takes over. Madagascar vanilla warms the finish just slightly, enough to round off the white flowers without erasing their sharpness.

By fall the cooler air pulls out more of the woody patchouli base and less of the citrus opening, giving it a heavier character than it carries in warm months. The white floral core stays recognizable throughout, dense and a little sweet, unapologetic about how loud tuberose and jasmine can get.
