Our take

Champagne is a strange note to build a fragrance around, and Remarkable People opens on exactly that, fizzy and bright alongside grapefruit and cardamom for a start that smells like a toast rather than a fragrance. Etat Libre d'Orange has never been shy about odd pairings, and this one commits fully to the idea, never treating it like a gimmick.

Black pepper, curry tree and jasmine take over the heart, and the curry tree note earns its keep, giving the composition a warm, slightly savory edge that most florals never go near. Sandalwood, Lorenox and labdanum settle the drydown into something ambery and resinous, Cecile Matton grounding the spice in warm amber, savory just at the edges. It's a strange, likeable combination, more suited to curiosity than to blending in.

Longevity is moderate, a scent that holds a fair line without overachieving, and it keeps to itself, a fragrance you discover only by standing close, best appreciated at conversational range. Best worn by someone who wants a conversation piece more than a signature scent, a curious, slightly savory oddity that rewards patience over a quick spray-and-go decision.
